CHANGE IS POSSIBLE.

HOW ANXIETY THERAPY WORKS

You can learn to understand, manage, and start making anxiety work for you, not against you.

A core part of our work together is helping your nervous system shift from constant threat mode toward greater safety and regulation. Anxiety isn’t just “in your head.” It’s your body and brain working hard to protect you — even when there isn’t immediate danger.

When your nervous system has been activated for a long time, it makes sense that you may feel tense, on edge, easily startled, or caught in relentless worry cycles. Your body may respond as if something is always about to happen, even when your rational mind knows you’re safe.

Anxiety often reflects a nervous system stuck in fight-or-flight — or swinging between activation and shutdown. Our goal isn’t to force your body to calm down or override it with logic. Instead, we focus on helping your system feel safer, steadier, and more flexible so you can move through emotional states without becoming overwhelmed.

In therapy, I integrate mindfulness-based CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, narrative approaches, and attachment-focused work. Together, we explore both the immediate tools that reduce anxiety symptoms and the deeper patterns that keep them in place. When appropriate, EMDR may also be incorporated to process unresolved experiences that continue to activate your nervous system.

Our work may include:

• Understanding what’s happening in your body when anxiety shows up
• Recognizing your personal cues of activation, shutdown, and regulation
• Learning practical tools to calm physiological arousal and reduce overthinking
• Exploring attachment patterns that influence how you respond to stress
• Processing past experiences that contribute to current anxiety
• Strengthening your ability to stay grounded during waves of discomfort

We draw from evidence-based nervous system regulation practices — including grounding exercises, paced breathing, mindfulness, and connection-focused strategies — to send consistent signals of safety to your brain and body.

You don’t have to push yourself to “just relax.” Your nervous system is doing exactly what it learned to do.

Together, we help it learn something new — patterns of safety, resilience, and self-compassion — at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable.

Therapy for anxiety can help you…

  • Anxiety becomes a concern when it starts interfering with your daily life. Do you find yourself unable to sleep, engage in your relationships, focus at work, or even feel present?

Anxiety can look overthinking, worrying, racing heart or chest tightness, or an inability to focus on tasks or stay present.

  • Anxiety therapy focuses on helping you understand and manage the patterns that keep anxiety going.

We begin by identifying your triggers, thought patterns, and nervous system responses. From there, you’ll learn practical tools to regulate physical symptoms, reduce overthinking, and gradually face situations that may be reinforcing panic or avoidance.

I integrate approaches such as mindfulness-based CBT, ACT, psychodynamic therapy, and (when appropriate) EMDR to create a personalized treatment plan. Therapy is collaborative and paced in a way that feels safe and manageable. Over time, most clients feel less reactive, more confident, and better equipped to handle stress without being controlled by worry.ion

  • I work with generalized anxiety, chronic overthinking, panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety, and high-functioning anxiety.

Some clients feel constant worry they can’t turn off. Others experience physical symptoms like a racing heart or sudden waves of panic. Many appear capable on the outside but feel internally tense or exhausted.

In anxiety therapy, we focus on understanding your specific patterns and building practical regulation tools so anxiety no longer runs your life.

  • Yes! Anxiety therapy can help decrease overworking and feelings of panic through learned grounding tools, exposure techniques, understanding the cycle of anxiety, and gradually decreasing avoidance.

  • Yes. High-functioning anxiety is real, even if you’re still managing work and responsibilities.

You might perform well professionally while privately struggling with overthinking, perfectionism, or chronic tension. Therapy helps reduce internal pressure, strengthen emotional regulation, and build self-worth that isn’t tied to achievement.

You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to seek support.
